I watched Amanda Fernandez recite the poem unknown girl in the maternity world. Throughout the whole poem, Amanda had very appropriate physical presence in which she didnt make too many gestures with her hands, she didn't act out what she was saying, and she looked very comfortable up in front of the audience. Not only was her physical presence outstanding but her voice and articulation was flawless. She didn't mispronounce a single word and she made the poem flow out professionally. For dramatization, she even added some tears which greatly enhanced the dramatic effect
As far as the level of difficulty goes, the poem was incredibly long as well as very sophisticated content and very high diction. To have such good articulation and confidence reading a poem of such difficulty and length is very impressive. congratulations to Amanda.

behold life lesson

A life lesson I have been told many a times is, "if you quit now you will regret it later." This was said to me by my father when I asked if I could stop taking guitar lessons. At the time, I was really not in the mood to keep practicing and practicing and I didn't really realize how it would affect me later in my life. My dad said when he was a kid he didn't play guitar but now that he does, he wishes he was better and he wishes he would have taken lessons at some point.
Now that I have thought about the phrase said many a times, i understand what he was talking about and how playing guitar will be a great skill for when I am older. Als0 another lesson that comes with that phrase is a hidden one and that is responsibility. I would have to be responsible to practice and to go to my lessons. Just in that small phrase there were to lessons, and those lessons may very well be a great key to success so thank you dad!

behold: my best bud

I would have to say my best friend would have to be Devonte from when I lived back in Harlem. Devonte is about six foot eight now and he is growing a mustache. Devontes hobies consist of basktball and some football. Normally he is percieved as kind of a bad kid but once you get to know him he is really cool and good at stuff. He is really good at drawing as well.
When I was seven Devonte and I built mini potato guns and had lots of wars. He always won because he was a better shot than me, I had terrible aim.

behold: my childhood memory

a childhood memory that i remember quite distinctly through all the other memories is when my friend kaleb and i were running around at garfield elementary jumping on walls like grasshoppers enjoying ourselves on a lovely saturday evening. i leapt up on to a ledge and began to sprint across it as though running for my life. although i did not notice, above my head happened to be the cieling. this was not your average ceiling. now let me tell you that this ceiling was more of what you could call upside down stairs. as i ran foward, like stairs, the ceiling got progressively closer and closer to me or my head for that matter. all of a sudden, the most excruciating pain possible was felt starting in my noggin and ending in my toes went through me. i hit my head so hard on the stair ceiling the roof closelined me on to my back and there i still felt yet another jolt of pain going through my whole back. i reached up to my head to feel the spot of impact and sure enough, a nice swimming pool of blood. i got up crying and started running towards my friends house, in pain and agony. when i aarrived at my friends house i showed his mom and they took me to the emergency room.
once in the emergeny room i began to calm myself taking very deep breathes. i got to my er room and the docters stapled me up like paper. from then on i was free to leave just good as new, with the exception of a missing chink of scalp.

behold: treasure isnald: imagery

i think the author if treasure island used so much imagery because pirates were in a far back time and it would be hard to understand what was going on without a constant picture of whats going on in your head. one way imagery of the people/pirates is brought out is through lots of jargon. the dialect in which the characters speak really gives you an image of what they would look just from what they are saying.

besides to understand how people/pirates looked back in the "pirate days," i think imagery was used as well to bring out the setting and area around the people. the discriptions of everything also created a very in depth picture inside my head and really helped me get through the weird words becasue i had a picture of where they were and where they were going.

behold outside reading

At this point in the book(treasure island) the literary element that has struck me the most is motif. the book is fairly easy to get into because there is quite a bit of action and suspense. being halfway into the book i know there is a lot in store for me. i think the author put motif in the book many times to get a point across to the reader. since the book is fantasy there is normally a very important theme so i think the author gets the theme across to the reader very well as a motif. in this novel the tone does shift almost every chapter. sometimes the chapter will start off happy and nice and whimsical and by the end it will be dramatic and somber. its an all around great book!!!!!!!!!

behold

when i first open a book i read the title. the title has to be good and interesting. if it is something like the cheese-wheel then i probably wont read it. sometimes i happen to judge a book by its cover so i normally only read books that sound interesting. normally if the book isn't catchy in the first twenty pages i also don't read unless someone else recommends and says it is really good. If the book is also really confusing like frakenstein i probably wont read it becasue i am very picky when it comes to books. I can not, CAN NOT, read if it is not quiet. I have to have the most perfect place to read especially if the book isn't that good in the first place. For example one time i was at school and I could faintly hear two people whispering and I just couldnt focus at all. My favorite type of book or genre would have to be fiction. nothing like a good fiction book. for example the hobbit. so many twists and turns and the thing about fiction books are that the books are very unpredictable. i cant read a predictable book at all. hope to read some other blogs.
